Bhubaneswar, March 24: In a shocking incident, a youth allegedly attacked his elderly father with a sharp weapon in the Sisupalgarh area under Dhauli police limits, leaving him critically injured. The accused is currently absconding, and police have launched a manhunt to trace him.

According to sources, the incident took place on Monday night when Manoranjan Bhoi, alias Montu, returned home in an intoxicated state. His father, 62-year-old Babaji Bhoi, objected to his behaviour and tried to counsel him. This led to a heated argument between the two, which soon escalated into a physical altercation.

In a fit of rage, the accused reportedly attacked his father on the head with a sharp weapon, causing severe injuries and heavy bleeding.

On being informed, Dhauli police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured man in a critical condition. He was immediately shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused, who fled the scene after the attack.
