Delhi, April 4:Violent earthquake tremors were felt across Delhi-NCR and several parts of North India on Friday after a 5.9-magnitude quake struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region.
The sudden jolts triggered panic, with residents in several cities rushing out of homes and office buildings due to thundering sound and severe tremble of the ground.
The tremors, recorded at around 9.50 pm, were reported from multiple cities, including Noida, Chandigarh, Ludhiana in Punjab, and Poonch, Srinagar, and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, Dehradun among several other locations.
No immediate reports of damage or casualties have emerged so far, and the epicentre of the seismic activity is yet to be ascertained.
The earthquake tremors were also briefly felt in several cities across Pakistan, including Islamabad, parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar and other areas, said sources.
