Cricketer Yash Dayal Banned Amid Grave Allegations

Fast bowler Yash Dayal's promising cricket career has been thrown into turmoil after the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) banned him from the upcoming UP T20 League. The decision follows the filing of two separate and serious sexual harassment cases against the cricketer, one of which involves a minor and falls under the stringent POCSO Act.

Serious Legal Troubles

Dayal is currently facing grave legal challenges on two fronts. In Ghaziabad, he is accused of sexual exploitation under the pretext of marriage. While he has received temporary protection from arrest in that case, a second, more serious case has been filed in Jaipur.

In the Jaipur case, a minor has accused the cricketer of raping her repeatedly over two years, using emotional blackmail and false promises of a cricketing career to lure her. The alleged assaults began when the victim was 17. Due to the victim's age, the police have registered the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The Jaipur High Court has denied him protection from arrest, and with the next hearing approaching, the threat of imprisonment is very real.

Career in Jeopardy

The immediate consequence of these allegations is the ban from the UP T20 League, where Dayal was recently bought by the Gorakhpur Lions for Rs 7 lakh. The ban comes at a high point in his career; the 27-year-old played a key role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru's maiden IPL victory in 2025. With serious criminal charges and a ban from his domestic league, the future of the once-rising star now hangs precariously in the balance.
