Bhubaneswar, July 2: The Higher Education Department has published the state-wide merit list for the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET-2026) for admission into postgraduate (P.G.) courses for the academic year 2026–27.

The merit list was released today on the SAMS portal.

The Common PG Entrance Test (CPET-2026), conducted by the State Selection Board, Odisha, serves as the gateway for admission to postgraduate programmes offered through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS).

According to the Higher Education Department, selected students can take admission in 132 postgraduate higher education institutions, offering 32,309 sanctioned seats across various disciplines.

CPET-2026 received 58,613 applications, out of which 53,901 candidates appeared for the entrance examination, while 4,712 applicants remained absent. Since all candidates who appeared for the examination are eligible for selection, 53,901 applicants have been included in the State-Wide Merit List.

Candidates can now log in to the SAMS P.G. Portal to check their entrance subject-wise rank and social category-wise rank. The merit list will serve as the basis for the upcoming online choice-filling and admission process.

The Higher Education Department has informed that the detailed schedule for choice filling and other admission-related activities will be announced shortly. Applicants are advised to visit the SAMS P.G. Portal regularly to stay updated on important dates, notifications, and further admission procedures.

The publication of the merit list marks a significant milestone in the postgraduate admission process for the 2026–27 academic session, enabling thousands of students to move forward with their higher education aspirations.
