Puri, Ap 22: After the site was prepared for Rath construction, the Rath building work officially began on Tuesday at the Rathkhala.

At the Rathkhala in Srinahara, master carpenters (Vishwakarma) have started the construction of three chariots. Initially, the building work for all three Rathas has commenced. After the necessary timber was delivered to Rathkhala by volunteers for Rath construction, they began cutting the wood into required pieces.

Two base structures were created first, and the master carpenters marked measurements for the main circular frame. After this, the Vishwakarmas continued shaping the wood into required forms. Meanwhile, artisans in the nearby shed prepared the wooden components for the wheel assemblies.

The Rath construction work started at 8 a.m., with 24 carpenters participating in the initial phase.
