Konark, Aug 6: Delegates from BRICS member nations explored Odisha's rich cultural heritage with a visit to the world-famous Konark Sun Temple on Wednesday, as part of their itinerary during the BRICS Education Ministers' meeting being held in Bhubaneswar.

A 27-member delegation from countries including Russia, Brazil, and South Africa received a traditional welcome upon their arrival in Konark before touring the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The delegates visited the iconic 'Black Pagoda' and the Interpretation Centre, where they were introduced to the temple's history, architecture, and cultural significance.

Accredited guide Animesh Mallik provided a detailed account of the 13th-century Sun Temple, explaining its historical importance and the intricate stone carvings that make it one of India's finest architectural masterpieces. The delegates expressed admiration for the temple's exquisite craftsmanship and artistic excellence.

Following their tour of the monument, the visitors also explored the Interpretation Centre to gain deeper insights into the temple's legacy and Odisha's architectural traditions.

The visit was coordinated under tight security and administrative arrangements. Among those present were Additional District Magistrate Sarat Chandra Behera, Additional SP Sachin Patel, Nimapada SDPO Janardan Padhi, District Tourism Officer Saroj Kanta Pradhan, Konark NAC Executive Officer Pradyumna Jena, Konark IIC Prashant Kumar Padhiyari, Panthanivas Manager Bapi Ranjan Sahu, along with officials from various departments.

The Konark visit highlighted Odisha's cultural and tourism potential before the international delegates, offering them a glimpse of the state's globally celebrated heritage alongside the ongoing BRICS engagements in Bhubaneswar.
