BJD MPs walk out in Rajya Sabha over BJP leader Nishikant Dubey’s alleged insult of Biju Patnaik

Bhubaneswar/ New Delhi, March 30: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD)'s Members of Parliament on Monday staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha, protesting what it described as disparaging remarks made by BJP leader Nishikant Dubey against former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.

The incident unfolded shortly after the official listed papers were presented on the floor of the House. BJD leader Sasmit Patra, speaking in the Rajya Sabha, expressed his strong objection, calling the statements by Dubey "serious, false, and fabricated."

Patra condemned Dubey’s remark referring to Biju Patnaik as a CIA agent, declaring, "This is the level to which the ruling party has stooped." He went on to call the comments "utterly shameful" and emphasized that the Biju Janata Dal unequivocally opposed such statements. In a direct response, Patra announced the party's decision to walk out in protest.
