Bisamakatak, Feb 25: A school student from Bisamakatak, who had been fighting for his life for 48 days following a horrific colour thinner attack, passed away on Tuesday. The deceased, Biren Takri, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The tragic incident occurred on January 5 at an upgraded school in Paikadakuluguda, where Biren and three other students were severely burnt after another student allegedly poured colour thinner on them and set them on fire. The other injured students, Nalina Hueika, Rohit Khara, and Sudaba Bagha, also sustained burn injuries in the attack.

Biren’s death has deeply affected his family and the entire local community, with villagers expressing profound sorrow over the loss. The incident has left the community in shock, and there is widespread grief over the young student's untimely demise.

Following a complaint lodged by the school headmaster, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. Statements from the injured students have been recorded, and legal action is being taken against the accused student responsible for the attack.
