Berhampur, Mar 7: Two minor girls have reportedly escaped from the Utkal Balashram, just a day after being admitted.

Authorities had rescued the girls, along with seven other children, from begging near the PVN Rao Petrol Pump four days ago. Following the Shishumangal Committee’s instructions, seven boys were sent to a correctional home, while the two girls were placed in the Balashram.

Earlier, police had arrested five people involved in running child begging rackets. Despite these measures, the two girls managed to flee from the institution within 24 hours of their arrival.
