Mumbai, Sept 27: Entrepreneur and former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover appears to have been invited to join Bigg Boss 19 as a wildcard contestant, a revelation that has caused quite a stir on social media.
On Friday, Grover took to his Instagram stories to share a screenshot of an email that purportedly came from the show’s Senior Casting Coordinator. In his signature witty manner, Grover made a sarcastic remark, while subtly poking fun at the show’s host, Salman Khan. He wrote, “Haha! Salman bhai se pooch le!! Mai to free ho jaunga tab tak. Yeh ‘mail merge’ kisi ki to naukri khayega (Haha! Ask Salman Bhai! I’ll be free by then. This ‘mail merge’ thing might cost someone their job).”
For context, "mail merge" is a tool used to automate personalized communications. It allows a generic message to be sent to multiple recipients with unique details for each.
The email in question mentioned Grover's name and contained a generic message stating, "We are delighted to contact you regarding an exclusive opportunity to join the show as a wildcard contestant. Your dynamic personality, engaging social media presence, and unique appeal have caught the attention of our casting team, making you a strong candidate for this exciting role."
This comes months after a heated exchange between Grover and Salman Khan on Bigg Boss 18. During a Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Grover, who was a guest on the show, faced a sharp rebuke from Salman over comments he made about their brand collaboration.
In response, Grover had tweeted, “I hope you enjoyed the Bigg Boss weekend ka vaar! I had good fun. And I am sure the particular episode got great TRP/viewership. BTW, all of the statements below are TRUE: – Salman is a great host & actor – Salman knows what works on Bigg Boss – I’ve always praised Salman for his sense of self and business – not a single thing demeaning said for him ever.”
Grover also revealed that he had met Salman Khan in 2019 for a brand partnership. With the new alleged invite to Bigg Boss 19, it remains to be seen how this potential second appearance on the show unfolds.
Bigg Boss 19 is currently airing its fifth week and streams on JioHotstar at 9 PM, with its TV telecast following at 10:30 PM on Colors TV.
