Odisha artists honour Leonardo da Vinci
Dhauli College of Art and Crafts marked World Art Day by organizing a specialized creative camp featuring thirty talented participants. Located near the historic Shanti Stupa, the event integrated traditional aesthetics with modern techniques. Senior painters Gouranga Bariki and Shukadev Maharana inaugurated the session, urging young creators to maintain consistent dedication to their craft.
Artists captured public attention with a striking 16-foot by 5-foot collaborative painting. This large-scale work merged contemporary styles with the deep-rooted cultural motifs of Odisha. Beyond the visual display, the gathering served as a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci’s birth anniversary, linking local talent to the global art community.
Principal Dr. Panchanan Samal outlined the objectives of the celebration, emphasising global artistic standards. Distinguished guests including Chintamani Biswal and Sarasi Das distributed awards to competition winners, encouraging them to represent Odia heritage on international platforms. Odisha has long remained a cradle of artistic innovation, dating back to the intricate stone carvings of the 13th-century Sun Temple at Konark, a legacy these modern students seek to preserve.
