NARASANNAPETA (AP), May 16: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday unveiled a new scheme offering financial incentives to families for having a third or fourth child, aiming to address the state’s declining population.
Speaking at a public meeting in Narsannapeta, Srikakulam district, Naidu stated that families would receive Rs 30,000 for the birth of a third child and Rs 40,000 for a fourth. He added that the government would provide more details of the initiative within the next month.
“I have made a new decision. Rs 30,000 will be given immediately after the birth of a third child and Rs 40,000 for a fourth. Isn’t this the right step?” Naidu said, while attending the Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra cleanliness programme.
