Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: An ‘Ama Bus’ caught fire at the Patia Ama Bus depot on Sunday afternoon while it was being charged. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the electric bus’s battery.

On receiving information, two fire service teams rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control within a short time.

“We received a call from the control room at around 3:15 pm about an Ama Bus catching fire near Patia. Our team immediately reached the location and launched an operation to douse the fire,” said a fire service official.

He said preliminary findings suggest a battery short circuit as the cause.

The fire has been completely extinguished, there were no casualties, and the situation is under control, he added.
