Bhubaneswar, August 5:As part of an ongoing drive against illegal immigration, authorities have deported 42 Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly residing illegally in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack since July 2025, Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh said on Wednesday.

Addressing the media, the Police Commissioner said the deportations were carried out in phases between July 2025 and March 2026 following the completion of legal and administrative procedures. The action was taken after the individuals were identified as Bangladeshi nationals who had allegedly infiltrated the state and were staying in the capital region without valid travel or residential documents.

Singh further informed that the police recently traced another six suspected Bangladeshi infiltrators in Bhubaneswar. Their identities have been verified, and the process of completing the necessary legal formalities for their deportation is currently underway.

The commissioner said the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate has been maintaining strict surveillance to identify foreign nationals residing illegally in the region. The verification process is being carried out in coordination with other law enforcement and government agencies to ensure that due legal procedures are followed before deportation.

He added that the police will continue the drive against illegal infiltration and take action against those found staying in the state in violation of immigration laws. The authorities have also appealed to the public to share information about any suspected illegal foreign nationals so that timely verification and appropriate legal action can be initiated.
