Bhubaneswar, February 28: The last two of six Odia youths who were stranded in Thailand have safely returned to Odisha, completing their journey home. Their return was facilitated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s quick intervention.

Prashant Kumar Raut from Kendrapara and Yashobant Sahu from Kujipur arrived today, joining four others who returned on February 21.

The six individuals—Bijay Kumar Swain, Hemant Kumar Behera, Jayant Kumar Mallik, Yashobant Sahu, and Prashant Kumar Raut from Kendrapara district, along with Manoranjan Sahu from Bhadrak’s Chandbali block—had traveled to Thailand in August 2025 to work at a plywood company. However, upon arrival, they encountered grave challenges, including non-payment of wages and poor working conditions. The youths soon found themselves stranded and in distress, prompting them to seek help from the Odisha government for their repatriation.

The Odisha government, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, local administrations, and other agencies, coordinated their repatriation. The youths expressed immense gratitude to the Chief Minister and the authorities for their support in bringing them home safely.
