Bhubaneswar, January 12: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday laid the foundation stone for iconic new Secretariat (Lok Seva Bhavan) and Assembly buildings as part of a major infrastructure push by the BJP Government in the State.

The new Lok Seva Bhavan and the new Odisha Legislative Assembly building will be developed within a single integrated campus of over 71.13 acres of land with cost of Rs 3,623 crore.

According to reports, the construction of both the new structures, will occur in two phases. Phase I will see the new secretariat-cum-Mantralaya built adjacent to Kharvela Bhawan and the OSEPA campus, along with a three-level underground parking facility in front of the present Lok Seva Bhawan.

Phase II will focus on the new State Legislative Assembly building.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony was held at the Lok Seva Bhavan Conference Hall today by the Chief Minister on the occasion of National Road Safety Month, marking the formal launch of the ambitious project.
