Bhubaneswar, Sept 13: All schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will remain closed on Saturday (September 14) as heavy to very heavy downpour is anticipated in the district.
With the IMD's newscast, the Mayurbhanj district administration announced it on Friday.
Following the DM and Collector’s notification, the district education officer (DEO) issued letters to the school authorities to suspend physical classes for the adverse weather forecast.
Worth mentioning, the IMD said the well-marked Low Pressure over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bangladesh is expected to intensify into a Depression by Saturday. Based on it, a red alert was issued for the Mayurbhanj.
The IMD forecast said, isolated heavy to very heavy falls (7 to 20 cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) accompanied by thunderstorm with violent lightning and thunder storms may occur at isolated places in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
