As per reports, regional office of the IMD in Bhubaneswar issued a dense fog alert in Bhadrak, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Khurdha, Kendrapara, Puri and Sambalpur districts valid till morning of January 14.
Meanwhile, visibility in various parts of the state including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack reduced to less than 50 meters due to dense fog.
The Met department also forecasted that night/minimum temperature is likely to rise by 2°C – 4°C across the state during the next two days and further by 2°C – 3°C during the subsequent three days.
Several parts of the state are currently experiencing chilly weather, with temperatures dropping below 10°C in many places. G Udayagiri, a picturesque hill station in Kandhamal, recorded the coldest temperature in the last 24 hours at a frosty 5.2°C. In Angul, the nighttime temperature plunged nearly 4°C below the normal range.
In the twin cities, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the mercury also dipped slightly below normal, with temperatures of 13.2°C and 12.8°C respectively, compared to 13.6°C and 12.5°C the previous day.
Weather experts predict that this cold spell is likely to persist, with no major changes expected until January 16.
