Eid-ul-Adha, popularly known as Bakrid, is one of the holiest festivals celebrated by Muslims around the world. Also referred to as Eid-al-Adha, Eid-ul-Zuha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, the festival symbolises devotion, gratitude, and compassion.
Observed on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar, Eid-ul-Adha also marks the completion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. In India, the festival will be celebrated on May 28, 2026. It falls nearly two months and nine days after Eid-ul-Fitr.
