Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: Under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to lash Odisha from today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for five districts of Odisha.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is also likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Angul, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha.
Thunderstorms with lightning may occur at one or two places in North Odisha, South Coastal Odisha, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Bolangir and Kalahandi.
