IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in Odisha for next 7 days

 

Bhubaneswar, September 4: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Odisha due to a low-pressure system over north Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to move west-northwest. This system, along with a monsoon trough, is causing widespread rainfall in the state.

Forecast and Warnings:

  • Sept 5: Light to moderate rain expected across most districts. A Yellow Warning has been issued for heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) in several districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Angul, Cuttack, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
  • Sept 5-6: Widespread rainfall, with thunderstorm warnings for coastal and northern districts, including Cuttack and Balasore.
  • Sept 6-7: Rain likely in some areas; thunderstorm warnings continue for coastal and northern Odisha.
  • Sept 7-9: Light to moderate rainfall in north Odisha; thunderstorms in select districts.
  • Sept 9-11: Light to moderate rainfall with no significant warnings.
