Bhubaneswar, May 22: The Meteorological Centre has issued a forecast indicating the formation of a low-pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal coast, with a high possibility of intensifying into a depression over central parts of the Bay of Bengal by May 24.
According to the latest forecast from IMD, this weather system is expected to progress northeastwards and consolidate into a Depression over central parts of the Bay of Bengal by the morning of May 24, 2024. Subsequently, it is anticipated to continue its northeastward movement and intensify further.
As a consequence of this weather pattern, on May 25, 2024, regions such as North and South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur districts of West Bengal, and Balasore district of Odisha are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, with heavy rainfall forecasted at isolated places.
Similarly, Mizoram, Tripura, and South Manipur are also likely to witness light to moderate rainfall, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated locations on the same day.
