Bhubaneswar, August 24: Indiscriminate illegal parking of vehicles right in the middle of the streets is adding to traffic chaos and endangering the lives of commuters on the stretch between Jaydev Vihar and Nandankanan.
There is traffic congestion between Damana Square and Sailashree Vihar, Patia and other areas. The area remains crowded during the peak hours as there are several schools and educational institutes in the locality and Illegal parking has added to the woes.
“Traffic congestion has become a daily issue on Jayadev Vihar and Nadankanan Road and the problem worsens during the peak hours as many vehicles remain parked on either side of the roads. The administration is doing nothing to curb illegal parking,” said Agastya Majhi, a daily commuter from Patia to Secretariat.
The on-street parking facilities are not feasible between Jayadev Vihar and Nadankanan which is need of the hour, he added.
Besides, the shops on the sides of the roads never provide any parking space, forcing customers to park on the road.
We are regularly towing four wheelers from Jaydev Vihar and Nandankanan and imposing fine for illegal parking encroaching road, said a police official of Traffic – II police station.
