Bhubaneswar, August 9: The SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCB MC&H), Cuttack, has been ranked among the top 15 Government medical colleges in the country, with three State-run medical colleges from Odisha featuring among the top 74 in the rankings released by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF).

The SCB MC&H emerged as the best-performing medical college in Odisha, securing the 15th position nationally. It ranked first in the State. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, secured the second position in the State, ranking 16th nationally.

Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, has secured the 64th position, while MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, has been ranked 74th in the latest rankings.

Expressing happiness over the development, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling congratulated all the doctors, faculty members, students, nursing officers, healthcare workers, administrative officers, and staff of the premier medical colleges that secured positions in the ranking.

“This ranking is not merely an achievement for us but an inspiration to take Odisha’s Government medical colleges to even greater heights at the national level,” said Mahaling.

He also highlighted the continuous support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for the development of healthcare system in the State.

Mahaling said, “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the State Government has been continuously working to strengthen medical education, research, modern infrastructure, and quality healthcare services.”
