Ganjam, Feb 3: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will visit Ganjam district on Tuesday to inaugurate the state-level Sukanya Yojana from the revered Maa Taratarini shrine. As part of the event, 201 underprivileged girls will be married in a single ceremony. District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan confirmed the arrangements.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, and Fisheries and Animal Resource Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik are also expected to participate in the program. Under the scheme, each bride will receive ₹45,000 via direct benefit transfer (DBT). Marriage certificates will also be issued on the same day, and the Chief Minister will personally perform the Kanyadaan.

The initiative will continue in the coming months, with monthly ceremonies organized in a simple manner. The district’s ISRD and voluntary organizations have been tasked with identifying eligible beneficiaries, with each assigned 11 villages per block.
