Bhubaneswar, August 1:As floodwaters continue to affect several parts of Odisha's Jajpur district, Inspector General of Police (Central Range) Dr. Satyajit Naik on Saturday visited the flood-hit villages of Indaroi, Erbanka, and Bankasahi under Erbanka Gram Panchayat in Jajpur Block to assess the ground situation and monitor ongoing rescue and relief efforts.

During the visit, Dr. Naik interacted with affected residents to understand the hardships they are facing and reviewed the rescue, relief, and security measures being implemented in the area. He also evaluated the arrangements made to ensure the safety of people displaced by the floods.

The 8th Battalion of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) has been playing a key role in the relief operations. The 39-member team has been conducting continuous rescue missions, using powerboats to evacuate elderly people, women, and children from waterlogged villages to safer locations and designated relief camps.

In addition to evacuation efforts, ODRAF personnel have been supplying dry food, drinking water, and other essential items to families stranded in remote areas that remain inaccessible due to floodwaters.

According to officials, the swift response, discipline, and dedication of the ODRAF team have been instrumental in safeguarding lives during the crisis. Working in coordination with the district administration, the personnel continue to reach even the most isolated villages to ensure timely assistance to all affected residents.

The tireless efforts of the ODRAF team have earned appreciation from both the district administration and local residents, who commended their commitment and courage in tackling the ongoing flood emergency.
