Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: Under the banner of Operation Jeevan Raksha, law enforcement agencies in Odisha’s Central Range have ramped up efforts to curb traffic violations and enhance road safety across various districts. The initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack, includes strict enforcement actions and public awareness campaigns designed to reduce road accidents and foster responsible driving practices.

In Puri, police conducted a special evening enforcement drive, during which 33 cases were registered for various traffic violations. These included incidents involving motorcycles, three cases of triple riding, five cases of modified silencers, and 16 instances of public drinking. This drive highlights the ongoing efforts to combat both illegal modifications and public behavior that compromises road safety.

In Jajpur, a thorough vehicle inspection drive was carried out across the district. A total of 304 vehicles were checked, resulting in fines of Rs 40,500 for multiple traffic rule violations, showcasing the rigorous enforcement actions being taken.

In addition to enforcement, road safety awareness programs were held at Dharmasala and Dasarathpur, emphasizing education alongside enforcement. The programs focused on the importance of wearing helmets, using seat belts, driving attentively, and maintaining overall traffic discipline.

Officials have reiterated that the objective of Operation Jeevan Raksha is not only to enforce traffic rules but also to educate the public on safe and responsible road behavior. By combining both enforcement and awareness, the campaign aims to significantly reduce the risks of road accidents and make Odisha’s roads safer for all.

Through these initiatives, Odisha is making important strides toward promoting road safety and ensuring that motorists take responsibility for their actions on the road.
