Dubai, Sep 4: Following their humiliating double Test defeats in the recent two-match series against Bangladesh, Pakistan have slipped to the 8th position in the ICC Men's Test rankings.
Pakistan were ranked 6th prior to their twin Test losses in Rawalpindi against Asian neighbours Bangladesh.
As per records so far, this is Pakistan's lowest rating points in the Test rankings since 1965, excluding a brief period when they were unranked due to insufficient Test matches.
Pakistan have not won a single match in their last 10 Tests since February 2021. In that period, Pakistan have lost six matches and drawn the remaining four, with series defeats against Australia, England, and now Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, several former cricketers have been very critical of Pakistan's lacklustre performance in recent times.
After Bangladesh won the two matches in Rawalpindi, several former Pakistan players have demanded entire overhaul of the cricketing structure in the country.
While Pakistan slipped two places down the ICC Rankings, the two-match Test victory handed Bangladesh 13 rating points in the ICC Men's Test Team Rankings. They now are positioned at the 9th position after Pakistan.
As per the latest ICC Test Rankings, Australia remain at the top, followed by India and England in second and third spots.
The series also had implications for Bangladesh in the World Test Championship standings. They are now at fourth spot with three wins in six Tests this cycle, the latest WTC standings revealed.
