Bargarh, Oct 15: Two persons were arrested while peddling a huge quantity of cough syrup in the Bargarh district on Sunday.
The Bargarh police during a special operation seized as many as 2,160 bottles of cough syrup, loaded in an auto-rickshaw near the Farmers’ Market in Bargarh. Two persons were arrested for illegally transporting the cough syrup without any drug license, said sources.
The arrested accused were identified as Ganesh Nag and Sambhu Lohan of Bargarh town, Additional Superintendent of Police T K Mohanty told reporters.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police personnel carried out a special operation and intercepted the auto-rickshaw filled with the illegal cough syrup reportedly used as drugs. Besides, at least four plastic jars containing cough syrup, two strips of Nitrosene-10, 15 plastic glasses, one mobile phone, and the auto-rickshaw were seized by the police in this connection.
