Sakibul Gani and Vaibhav Suryavanshi lead Bihar to historic victory

Cricket fans witnessed an extraordinary day of domestic sports as Bihar created history in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. During a Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh, the Bihar team posted a staggering 574/6, establishing a new Bihar world record score for the highest-ever team total in men’s List A cricket. This incredible feat was powered by a relentless batting display that left the opposition struggling to find answers.

The foundation for this mammoth total was laid by young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The wunderkind played a sensational knock of 190 runs from just 84 deliveries. He reached his century in a lightning-fast 36 balls, barely missing the record for the fastest List A hundred by an Indian. However, he did manage to break AB de Villiers’ record for the fastest 150 in this format, achieving the milestone in only 54 balls.

The record-breaking spree did not stop there. Captain Sakibul Gani took the aggression to another level, scoring an unbeaten 128 off just 40 balls. Gani officially claimed the record for the fastest List A century by an Indian, reaching the hundred-run mark in only 32 deliveries. Wicketkeeper Ayush Loharuka also contributed significantly to the Bihar world record score with a blistering 116 off 56 balls.

Interestingly, it was a day of rapid centuries across the country. While Bihar was busy making history, Ishan Kishan was playing a storming innings for Jharkhand against Karnataka. Kishan smashed a century in just 33 balls, finishing with 125 runs. This means three of the four fastest List A hundreds by Indians were recorded on the same day in Ahmedabad and Ranchi.

While superstars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were the primary focus entering the tournament, the spectacular performance by the Bihar squad stole the limelight. Even as fans gathered in Jaipur to watch Rohit and in Bengaluru for Kohli, the record-breaking carnage in the Plate Group became the biggest talking point of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025.
