Kendrapara, Jan 3: A shocking incident of a group attack on a female Block Development Officer (BDO) has surfaced from Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district, raising serious concerns about the safety of government officials while on duty.

The incident occurred around noon on Friday inside the office chamber of BDO Tilottama Prusty. Reports indicate that a local leader, accompanied by over 30 supporters, allegedly barged into her office and surrounded her. The group demanded the clearance of illegal bills and the sanctioning of certain work projects.

Prusty reportedly informed the group that bills could only be processed in accordance with government rules, and that work could only be approved based on completion. This led to a heated argument, during which the group became agitated.

Eyewitnesses claim that the group issued threats to Prusty, warning of serious consequences if their demands were not met. In a disturbing escalation, one individual allegedly tried to attack the officer by lifting a laptop in an apparent act of aggression. The entire sequence of events was captured on CCTV cameras inside the office.

Following the incident, the BDO immediately informed the Kendrapara district collector. At the time of reporting, no details were available about the immediate administrative or police response to the attack.

This incident has sparked widespread concern, with many highlighting the vulnerability of field-level administrative officers. It has also renewed calls for stronger security measures in government offices to protect officials from such acts of aggression.
