Foggy conditions to prevail over coastal and interior districts.

Residents across Odisha can expect a shift in weather conditions soon, as the winter chill begins to fade. According to the latest bulletin from the Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar, dry weather has prevailed over most districts, but a gradual warming trend is on the horizon.

While there will be no significant change in the minimum temperature (night temperature) over the next 24 hours, the mercury is expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius thereafter across the districts of Odisha. This signals the approaching end of the harsh winter season.

Current Temperature Extremes

For February 17, the heat is already being felt in some pockets. Paralakhemundi recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 35.0°C. On the other end of the spectrum, the plains of Odisha are still experiencing cold nights. Both Phulbani and Rourkela reported the lowest minimum temperature in the plains at 10.0°C. However, the hill station of G. Udayagiri remains the coldest spot in the state, shivering at a chilly 7.8°C.

In the Twin Cities, Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum of 32.8°C and a minimum of 18.4°C, while Cuttack saw a maximum of 29.6°C with a cooler night at 16.2°C.

Fog Warning Issued

Commuters are advised to exercise caution during early morning hours. Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur in isolated pockets over the next two days (valid up to the morning of February 19, 2026). The specific districts on alert include: Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpu, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Balasore, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khordha, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Angul and Dhenkanal

Visibility may be reduced in these areas, particularly during the early hours, so drivers should remain alert.
