Kolkata, November 20:West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sharply criticized the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, describing it as "chaotic, coercive, and dangerous." In a strongly worded letter addressed to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Thursday, Banerjee demanded the immediate cessation of the ongoing exercise, warning that it was undermining the electoral system.

Banerjee expressed concern over what she described as a "deeply alarming stage" of the SIR process, claiming that it had been implemented in a "haphazard and dangerous" manner. She further alleged that the exercise had been flawed from the outset, crippling the system and causing widespread disruption.

In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dismissed Banerjee’s accusations, accusing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of attempting to "derail the lawful process" of the SIR in West Bengal. The political rivalry between the two parties continues to escalate, with both sides trading sharp barbs over the issue.
