Jayashree Parida, a nurse at a nursing home, reflects on her festival days, stating, "When one chooses to be a nurse, special days take a backseat. Our commitment is round-the-clock. Despite missing celebrations initially, now our focus is on patient care. A few minutes of Holi celebration after duty is all we manage. Seeing patients leave the hospital healthy is our true joy."
Madhusmita Parida, another nurse, echoes this sentiment, saying, "As nurses, we never expect time off during celebrations. Patients' needs come first, even during festivals. Thoughts of festivities fade when we see patients in pain. It's a sacrifice we willingly make for their well-being."
Sridhar Rout, a security guard, emphasizes duty above all else, remarking, "For us, duty is paramount. Special days mean heightened vigilance. Policemen and security personnel are crucial during festivals to ensure safety. Celebrations come after duty, ensuring everyone's security."
Similarly, a retired Army personnel turned security guard shares, "In the military and now in security, duty is ingrained. Celebrations happen post-duty, and sometimes we miss them due to work demands. Our priority is safeguarding others."
Manjula, a dedicated home guard, emphasizes her role's significance, saying, "Wearing the uniform is an honor. We work tirelessly for public safety, often missing personal moments. Our joy lies in serving others, not in personal celebrations."
Sub Inspector Priyadarshini Rath highlights the duty-bound nature of law enforcement, stating, "We are guardians of public safety. Special days demand heightened vigilance. While we may miss celebrations, ensuring people's safety is our top priority."
