Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: Body of Dillip Kumar Samantray who was killed in the Hi-Tech fire mishap, was handed over to his family members based on the DNA report.
The DNA report confirmed that the third victim who succumbed to burn injuries on January 6 owing to the fire mishap which took place on Decemeber 29 was Dillip Samantray not Jyoti Ranjan Mallik.
Additional DCP Prakash Chandra Pal, who was probing the identity goof up case following the mishap, informed that police have received the DNA report from the Forensic Laboratory. The DNA report revealed, the victim who died on January 6 was Dillip Samantaray as the samples matched with his mother's.
Accordingly, police handed over Dillip's body to his family that was preserved in the mortuay of the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar after his identity was confirmed from the DNA report, Pal added.
Worth mentioning, the Police had taken samples from Dilip’s mother for DNA matching as identification mix-up of two victims put the hospital authorities and police in trouble.
