Bhubaneswar, September 2: Hinjili Assembly constituency in Odisha, previously represented by former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, had reported at least 100 murders during the tenure of the BJD government.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said this in a written statement to the state Assembly on Monday, in response to a query from BJP MLA Pradyumna Kumar Nayak.
As many as 328 individuals have been arrested in connection with these 100 murder cases while only in two cases the accused have been convicted. Similarly, 69 cases are pending in the courts and accused were acquitted in 22 cases.
Speaker Surama Padhi adjourned the House from 10:37 AM to 11:37 AM. Upon reconvening, the disruptions resumed, leading to further adjournments at 1:00 PM and then until 4:00 PM due to uproar as opposition members from the BJD and Congress created a ruckus, demanding the extension of the Subhadra Yojana to include all women in the state.
