Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: The 30th meeting of the Board of Directors of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) took place today at LokSeva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, chaired by Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary.

The meeting was attended by Surendra Kumar, ACS of the GA and PG Department, Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, Chanchal Rana, Managing Director of BSCL, S. Dev Datta Singh, CP of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Sanjay Kumar Biswal, Managing Director of CRUT, and other senior officials.

During the meeting, the Board reviewed the progress of several key Smart City projects and approved measures to enhance citizen-centric urban governance and infrastructure.

A highlight of the meeting was the review of the successful launch of the ‘SaharSathi’ 24×7 Call Centre (toll-free number 1929), inaugurated by the Chief Minister on August 31, 2025. The Call Centre now serves all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Odisha, offering improved citizen support services.

The Board also reviewed several technology-driven initiatives, including the installation of 3,000 AI-enabled CCTV cameras, adaptive traffic signal systems, and a city-wide Public Address System. These initiatives are aimed at improving urban safety, enhancing women’s security, boosting mobility, and enabling real-time monitoring of city activities.

Additionally, it was decided that Smart City Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) will continue their operations and work on a sustainable action plan for future development.

The Board approved the renovation of Janpath, with plans to replace bamboo fencing with MS iron grills from Master Canteen to VaniVihar, incorporating urban planning elements to make the area more citizen-friendly.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of promoting solar energy adoption, developing rooftop rainwater harvesting systems, and creating child-friendly public spaces. Recommendations were made to improve access to clean public toilets and well-maintained public parks.

Anu Garg praised the efforts of BSCL in driving innovation and digital governance, urging the team to keep focusing on citizen-first urban governance. She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to transforming Bhubaneswar into a model inclusive, resilient, and technology-driven city.
