Bhubaneswar, October 16: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday kicked off the campaign for the BJP in the ensuing Nuapada by-election, emphasizing the continuous efforts of the double-engine government—both at the Centre and the State—in driving development in the region.

Addressing the party meeting at the Bijay Sankalp Samabesh in Nuapada, Majhi reiterated his commitment to transforming the district into one of the most developed areas in Odisha, stating that he would personally take responsibility for its growth. He noted that Nuapada, which has long been considered one of the most backward districts, is on the path to substantial development under his leadership.

The Chief Minister highlighted several state government initiatives, pointing to the inauguration and groundbreaking of projects worth over Rs 1,101 crore in Nuapada alone. He further added that, in the past 16 months, the state government has allocated Rs 1,400 crore for development projects in the district.

Majhi also took the opportunity to speak about the achievements of the ruling BJP, asserting that the party always fulfills its promises to the people—a sharp contrast to the former BJD government. He reminded the crowd of the BJP’s swift actions upon taking power, including the immediate rollout of the Subhadra scheme and the increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy to Rs 3,100 per quintal under the Samrudh Krushak Yojana.

The Chief Minister also expressed his support for BJP candidate Jay Dholakia, son of the late former BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia. Majhi assured the crowd that Jay Dholakia would continue the unfinished work of his father, whose sudden demise on September 8 led to the by-poll in Nuapada.

Regarding the political contest, Majhi dismissed the idea of a triangular battle, asserting that the real contest would be between the BJP and the Congress.

In his closing remarks, Majhi urged BJP workers in Nuapada to fully dedicate themselves to securing victory in the by-poll, as several former BJD and Congress leaders joined the BJP during the rally.
