Strengthening bilateral ties through heritage, water, and technology cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed his recent trip to Jordan a significant milestone, emphasizing that the agreements reached during the tour have paved the way for a deeper and more meaningful relationship between New Delhi and Amman. Following his high-level meetings, the Prime Minister highlighted that the outcomes of the visit—ranging from green energy initiatives to sharing digital technology—showcase the strengthening bond of the India-Jordan Partnership.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his optimism regarding the new agreements. He pointed out that the collaboration on renewable energy is not just a business deal but a shared pledge towards climate responsibility and ensuring energy security for future generations.

One of the most unique aspects of the PM Modi Jordan Visit was the focus on cultural connectivity. A historic "Twinning Agreement" was established between two iconic world heritage sites: the rock-cut architecture of Petra in Jordan and the Ellora Caves in India. This agreement is expected to boost tourism and academic research for both nations. Additionally, the Cultural Exchange Programme has been renewed for 2025-2029 to bring the people of both countries closer together.

"Collaboration in water resources allows us to share vital technology for conservation, while our digital partnership will assist Jordan in its own digital transformation journey," PM Modi stated.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. These include technical cooperation in new and renewable energy and a framework for water resource management. India also committed to supporting the India-Jordan Centre of Excellence at Al Hussein Technical University by training master trainers over the next three years.

Earlier in the visit, PM Modi received a warm ceremonial welcome from Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan upon his arrival. He subsequently held detailed talks with King Abdullah II at the Al Husseiniya Palace. The two leaders discussed a wide array of topics, including trade, defense, fertilizer supply chains, and counter-terrorism. The MEA noted that both leaders stood united in their firm stance against terrorism.

To honor the visiting dignitary, King Abdullah II hosted a special banquet, reflecting the warmth of the diplomatic ties. As the PM Modi Jordan Visit concludes, the Prime Minister is set to depart for Ethiopia for the first time, followed by a visit to Oman to complete his three-nation tour.
