Cuttack, 18/11: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) will probe into the infamous Kunduli rape case. This was ordered by the High Court on Monday. The SIT probe will be conducted under the direct supervision of three senior police officers in the level of Deputy Inspector General (DIG). However, the court rejected the demand for the CBI inquiry. A class IX girl student allegedly fell victim of gang rape by four men in uniform on October 10, 2017. However, the local police and the doctor who had conducted the medical examination did not find any evidence of rape. But the victim was treated at the SCB Medical College and Hospital for a long time. On return to home, the victim lost her mental imbalance as no action was taken against the accused persons and she committed suicide on January 22, 2018. This had raised finger on the neutrality and efficiency of the police. The deceased’s family had, therefore, demanded CBI inquiry into the rape case as they had lost confidence on the state government and the investigating agency.
