Malkangiri, August 27: Incessant rainfall has thrown life out of gear in Malkangiri district, particularly in the Mathili block, where several areas are reeling under waterlogged conditions. Rainwater has reportedly entered numerous homes, causing distress to residents.
Key village roads across the block remain submerged, disrupting transportation and daily movement. Rivers like Pangam and Saptadhara are in spate, and with floodwaters unable to drain out effectively, major roads and nearby settlements have been inundated.
In Kiang village, emergency response teams have rescued affected residents and are providing cooked meals to those displaced. Villages such as Mahupadar, Kamarpali, and parts of Kiang are among the worst hit, as floodwaters continue to rise, intensifying the crisis.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have initiated relief measures in the most affected areas.
