Sundargarh, August 19: Schools across Sundargarh district will remain closed for the second consecutive day due to incessant rainfall and the possibility of further heavy rain.

The Sundargarh District Collector has ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 10 as a precautionary measure, keeping the safety of students in mind. Colleges in the district have also been instructed to remain closed.

The district has been experiencing continuous rainfall, with more rain forecast in the coming days. In view of the prevailing weather conditions and the possibility of disruptions, the administration has decided to keep educational institutions closed.

The District Collector had issued a similar order on Tuesday, when schools were shut due to heavy rain. Officials have indicated that the closure period may be extended if the weather situation does not improve.

Meanwhile, schools in several other parts of Odisha have also been closed in view of the persistent heavy rainfall.
