Heavy rain pounds Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: Incessant rains under the influence of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal have thrown normal life out of gear in several coastal districts of Odisha.

Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts are experiencing heavy rainfall from the wee hours of Thursday.

The puri district administation has announced holiday for schools in view of the down pour while world famous Sun Temple premises has been completely waterlogged since last night.

Rainwater has inundated low-lying areas in Puri district with water entering residential areas.

The regional met centre has issued orange warning for twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and said the state is set to receive more rain during the next 24 hours due to formation of a cyclonic circulation.

Temporary water logging was reported in low lying areas and underpass roads in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities.

The IMD has warned of poor visibility during intense spell of rain and traffic congestion in the capital city of Odisha.
