​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, August 9: Odisha is likely to witness another spell of wet weather over the next 24 hours, with a low-pressure area expected to bring heavy rainfall to several parts of the state.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Sunday issued a yellow warning, forecasting heavy rain along with lightning and thunderstorms in several districts.

According to the weather department, heavy rainfall is likely in parts of southern and western Odisha. The districts likely to be affected include Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely at several places across the state during the period.

Meanwhile,light rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms may occur at some places in Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur, the weather office said.

The meteorological department has advised people to remain alert during thunderstorms and take necessary precautions, particularly when lightning activity is reported.

The latest warning comes as Odisha continues to remain under the influence of the low-pressure system, with several districts likely to experience fluctuating weather conditions, including spells of heavy rain and thunderstorms, over the next 24 hours.
