Bhubaneswar, May 30: Heat wave conditions swept through large parts of Odisha on Thursday, with Jharsuguda recording a scorching 46.6 degrees Celsius by 2:30 PM.
The Indian Meteorological Department's latest bulletin from its Bhubaneswar centre reported that, four places in the state saw temperatures soar to 41 degrees Celsius or higher by the same time.
Following Jharsuguda, Sambalpur recorded 45.6 degrees Celsius, Hirakud 44.5 degrees Celsius, Rourkela 43.8 degrees Celsius, and Keonjhar 41.4 degrees Celsius. The Met Centre forecasts no significant change in maximum temperatures for the next three days, followed by a slight decrease of 2-3 degrees Celsius in many areas thereafter.
However, the department issued Orange and Yellow warnings for heat wave conditions across several districts for the next three days, along with a yellow weather warning for hot and humid conditions until June 4.
