Jharsuguda, Aug 22: The headmaster of a government-run residential school in Jharsuguda district has been arrested by the police following serious allegations of sexual harassment against female students.
The arrest came after an FIR was filed by the Welfare Extension Officer of the Lakhanpur block, accusing the headmaster of harassing over 30 girl students and making inappropriate gestures toward them.
Banharpali police confirmed the detention, stating that the headmaster has been taken into custody for questioning. "Our officials are currently investigating the allegations, and further inquiries are ongoing," the police spokesperson added.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the local community, with many residents calling for swift and severe action against the accused. There are also growing demands for enhanced safety measures in residential schools to protect students from such incidents.
