Kendrapara, Jan 13: A young man sustained critical injuries after being attacked with acid following a long-standing personal dispute in Kendrapara district. The incident occurred at Bachhara village under Pattamundai block, triggering shock and concern in the area.
According to sources, a prolonged rivalry existed between Rabindra Sahu and Bijay Sahu. Acting on previous enmity, Bijay Sahu allegedly threw acid on Rabindra Sahu, leaving him severely injured. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition worsened.
Police have detained the accused and launched an investigation into the case. Three bottles of acid were seized from the scene of the crime. The incident has raised serious questions regarding the availability of acid, despite strict government regulations on its sale.
Pattamundai police are continuing further investigation into the matter.
