Former Amin of Tarva Tahasil sentenced to 4 years in bribery case

Balangir, Dec 19: Sahu Meher, a retired Amin from Tarva Tahasil, Subarnapur district, was today convicted in a bribery case by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir. He was sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment and fined under provisions of Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe in connection with the demarcation of a landowner’s plots.

Following the conviction, Sahu Meher was taken into jail custody to serve his sentence.

The Odisha Vigilance Department has announced that it will approach the competent authority to stop the pension of Sahu Meher in light of his conviction.
