Nuapada/Bhubaneswar, November 10: The polling parties, along with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and other election materials, are being dispatched to a total of to 358 booths across the Nuapada Assembly constituency, which will go to bye-elections on November 11, under the direct supervision of Collector and District Election Officer Madhusudan Dash. Security has been beefed in the constituency, especially in areas bordering Chhattisgarh.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper has been deployed to pick and drop polling booth officials in hilly terrains and Naxal-affected regions.

According to reports, each polling party is being accompanied by five Government staff. All the teams will reach their assigned polling stations by Monday evening.

Voting will be held in most booths from 7 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday while polling will close earlier at 4 PM in 47 remote and Maoist-affected booths.

All the 358 polling booths will be under the Election Commission’s webcasting surveillance to enable live monitoring of polling activity.

As many as 2,53,624 registered voters will exercise their franchise in the crucial bypoll, of which 1,29,495 are women and 1,24,108 are men.

The Nuapada by-election was necessitated by the death of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia on September 8, 2025. Though there are 14 candidates in the fray, the battle is expected to be a triangular fight among BJP’s Jay Dholakia, BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria, and Congress’s Ghasiram Majhi.

Counting of votes and results will be declared on November 14.
