Speeding Mercedes driven by drunken cop's son kills pedestrian
Morning walks are usually a peaceful routine for seniors, but today, tragedy struck a quiet neighborhood in Narela. Seventy-year-old Urmila lost her life outside Himalaya Apartments in Mamurpur. Around 8 am, a speeding Mercedes collided violently with a Wagon R. This crash set off a deadly chain reaction on the busy street. The impact pushed the Wagon R backward, causing it to crash into a parked three-wheeler loading van. Sadly, Urmila was trapped between the two vehicles and died instantly.
Tragic Chain of Events
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported some deeply troubling details. Shubham, who was driving the luxury car, appeared highly intoxicated. Bystanders noticed a liquor bottle sitting plainly in the vehicle's cup holder. He was visibly distressed after the crash, but police officials quickly arrested him right at the location. Shubham happens to be the son of a sub-inspector working with the Haryana Police. He had borrowed the expensive car from a friend just one day prior for a short trip. While Urmila suffered fatal injuries, the driver of the Wagon R only received minor cuts and was given immediate first aid.
Growing Concern over Road Safety
Traffic accidents involving luxury cars are becoming an alarming trend across major cities. India has seen a sharp rise in cases where young drivers flout safety rules, often leading to innocent pedestrians paying the highest price. Authorities have sent Urmila's body for a post-mortem examination, and they are preparing to register a formal case of death by negligence against the young man. Officers are currently waiting for his medical test results to officially confirm the presence of alcohol in his blood.
